On May 9 the section will hold an HF digital exercise. Each district will appoint a transmitting station which will transmit in four modes over the course of the morning. Stations throughout the state will monitor those transmissions and report results.
The test is a scientifically designed experiment to attempt to understand (within the limits of what can be done in one morning) how effective the various modes might be around the state and what are their limitations.
A detailed experimental plan is available here. A form for reporting received results is here.
The experimental plan includes links to a number of manufacturers of sound card interfaces, as well as a schematic for constructing one's own interface. For those builders so inclined, a surface mount printed circuit board layout is available here.
